HISTORY
The Inn at Cooperstown, built in 1874, has been a landmark for over a century. An excellent example of Second Empire, it was designed by Architect Henry J. Hardenbergh, the same architect who designed the Dakota Apartments and the Plaza Hotel in NYC.
THE ANNEX
Of paramount importance was for the Annex to not compete with the Inn. The three horizontal registers, the front porch, the window proportion, all have been subtly shifted so as to create an aesthetic that has the fundamentals of Second Empire, yet is fresh and new. THE LOFT
The two story suite had to fit over the foundation of an existing garage. The Loft would be considered a success if the interested passerby did not recognize this as new construction. Low and behold, this has come to pass. Marc and Sherri Kingsley, the Inn’s proprietors, report that in the eyes of their guests, most have thought that the Loft has been there for years. |
