ZOLTICK

The natural rock outcroppings seen thruout the local area provided the inspiration for the zoltick residence. These rock outcroppings have a horizontal cleft to which the house responds as each higher floor cantilevers over the floor below

Because of the slope of the site, the house is cut into the hillside. The first floor spaces have commanding 10 - mile views of the lake valley below.

Three distinct materials comprise the exterior; concrete, zinc and cedar. The joke during the design was that the materials were selected with the game “rock, paper, scissors” in mind.

Light is brought into the first floor living spaces via clerestory windows. Tall light wells over the kitchen, the stair and the art gallery. suffuse the interior thruout the day.
