BADGLEY-KONG

People have called it the wave house, the yin-yang house, the ski jump house, the skateboard house. And we think these associations are great, as the form was inspired by the way the hills and ridgelines fold and overlap each other.

Cut into the gently sloping hillside, the house decreases it's northern exposure. With the majority of the glazing on the south, both daylight and passive heating are introduced. The large overhangs protect the glazing from the hot summer sun.

The roof was constructed with glu-lam beams, which then makes the roof curves part of both the interior and exterior experience.

The interior experience is unified with the central two story living space. The bridge links children's bedrooms on one end and the master bedroom on the other.
